Heidi Evatt is a Senior Associate in the Seattle office of Williams Kastner and is a member of the firm's Construction Practice Team. Her practice focuses on dispute resolution of a wide variety of complex construction claims involving issues such as delay, changed conditions, and defective design or delivery. Ms. Evatt's practice focuses on representation of property owners and general contractors in all phases of litigation, arbitration and mediation, as well as contract negotiation. For example, Ms. Evatt represented a property owner, General Metals of Tacoma, Inc., in a contract dispute with its general contractor, Bean Environmental, LLC, on an environmental dredging project to remediate the Hylebos Waterway in Tacoma, Washington. Following a five week jury trial in the United States District Court in the Western District of Washington, the jury awarded Ms. Evatt's client $6.37 million for damages sustained as a result of the general contractor's failure to perform its contract obligations. In November 2008, the decision in General Metals of Tacoma, Inc. v. Bean Environmental, LLC, was upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Evatt also regularly advises condominium and homeowners' associations on governance and management issues.
Ms. Evatt is a member of the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry, a member of the Northwest Construction Consumer Council, and is identified as a 2009 Rising Star by Washington Law & Politics magazine.
