Lydia Otey earned a Bachelor's in Spanish at Oklahoma State University in 2007, and a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law in 2012. During her time at DePaul, Lydia served on the Family Law Center's student executive board, heading the committee that organized a health and wellness conference for hundreds of Cook County girls deemed "at-risk." She was also awarded a Family Law Center Fellowship, which afforded her the opportunity to explore the principles of Restorative Justice, and how they can be effectively applied in the family law arena.
Before joining de Beer & Associates as a Law Clerk in the fall of 2012, Lydia gained legal experience through her internship at the Chicago Legal Clinic, her judicial clerkship in the Cook County Family Law Division, and her summer position at a private family law firm. In her free time, Lydia enjoys exploring the Twin Cities, traveling, DIY projects, and spending time with her family.
