Tony Cleveland was previously in private practice specializing in environmental, health care certificate of need litigation, and administrative litigation, as well as representation of employers in labor and employment matters. He is a former Assistant General Counsel with the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation and General Counsel of the Florida Education Association/United. A substantial portion of his practice deals with county utilities and federal and state hazardous waste, hazardous materials, and petroleum contamination matters. Mr. Cleveland has worked extensively with local government in permitting, agency enforcement, and ordinance drafting matters, including wastewater treatment facility permitting, deep injection well permitting, hazardous waste facility operation and closure permitting, as well as appellate litigation. He also reviews and comments on draft foreign environmental laws as part of the American Bar Association Central and Eastern Europe Law Initiative. He has lectured in the area of environmental matters. Mr. Cleveland received his law degree from Florida State University College of Law, where he served as a notes and comments editor of the Florida State University Law Review.
