Ned Childs is an associate in the Regulatory and Government Affairs Department, and a member of the Defense, National Security and Government Contracts Practice Group. He joined the firm in 2010.
Practice
Mr. Childs’ practice focuses on issues affecting companies in the defense, technology and education industries. He counsels clients on government contract-related issues, including bid protests, regulatory compliance and government investigations. He also advises clients on questions arising under federal and state personal data privacy laws.
During law school, Mr. Childs completed an internship in the US Department of Justice’s National Courts Section in 2008, where he authored trial documents and appellate briefs in government contract-related cases and performed research on government procurement issues. Mr. Childs also completed an internship in the US Department of Justice’s Office of Immigration Litigation in 2007, where he authored appellate briefs that defended decisions of the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Prior to law school, Mr. Childs worked for the US Department of State’s Office of the Coordinator of Cuban Affairs from 2003 to 2006. He was responsible for negotiating State Department policy positions on Department of Commerce and Department of the Treasury Cuba licensing matters. In this role, he worked closely with the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security and the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. Mr. Childs was also one of the Department’s primary contacts for issues arising under Title IV of the Helms-Burton Act, which involves the foreign trafficking of property expropriated from US nationals in Cuba.
