Paul S. Edelman is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.

He is admitted to the bar of New York, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the Southern, Eastern and Northern Federal District Courts of New York.

Mr. Edelman focuses on admiralty and maritime cases, but has also had a part in various aviation cases, particularly where the accidents involved disasters of airplanes into the sea.

He has been in many cases of maritime disasters, including the Andrea Doria, various radar tower and oil rig disasters, like the Ocean Ranger. He has also handled cases of The Prinsendam and other cruise ship fires and disasters, as well as a class action involving the Queen Elizabeth 2.

He has also represented ship owners and ship operators, as well as injured parties in maritime cases. He has filed many briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, including Edmonds v. Compagnie Generale Transatlantique (1979) and was an attorney in American Export Lines, Inc. v. Alvez (1980).

Mr. Edelman is the Admiralty Editor of the New York Law Journal, author of Maritime Injury and Death (2 volumes), Editor of the Maritime Law Reporter since 1989 and Editor of the New York State Bar Insurance Section (TICL) Journal. He is author of many other articles and contributor to various legal texts concerning maritime law, insurance law and federal and state practice.

He has appeared as counsel in the Andrea Doria television show and the Queen Elizabeth television shows.

He has been Chairman of the Admiralty Committee of ATLA and of the TIPS Section of the ABA. He was Chairman of the TIPS-ABA Toxic Tort Committee and a member of the TIPS-ABA council. He has been on various committees of the Maritime Law Association and World Peace Through Law (now International Jurists) Center. He is a fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.

He has been to Russia on three occasions, representing the American Bar Association and Maritime Law Association at different times.
