A new member to the Aggers Joseph team, Ms. O'Brien joined the firm in September of 2010. Ms. O'Brien was born in Cleveland, Ohio on and was raised in Shaker Heights. Ms. O'Brien attended Gilmour Academy, graduating in 2000, and then earned her B.A. in Political Science from Denison University in 2004. After college, Ms. O'Brien served in the United States Peace Corps for two years in a small rural village in sub-Saharan Africa teaching health classes in her village's high school. Ms. O'Brien returned home to Ohio in 2006 and began law school at Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, PA, obtaining her Juris Doctor Degree in 2010. Ms. O'Brien was then admitted to the Ohio Bar in November of 2010 and began an official practice of law at the Aggers Joseph law firm.
Ms. O'Brien focuses her practice on probate and estate matters, including the preparation of Wills, Trusts, Living Wills and Power of Attorney documents. Additionally, Ms. O'Brien advises clients on issues pertaining to estate planning and elder law issues involving Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Ms. O'Brien is regularly called upon by the Cuyahoga County Probate Court to serve as Guardian, Conservator, or attorney for incompetent individuals. In this capacity, Ms. O'Brien takes full responsibility for all medical and financial decisions that must be made for these persons in order to address their needs and provide for their continued safety, well-being, and happiness.
Ms. O'Brien is a volunteer attorney for the Adult Guardianship Services as well as an active board member of the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. Ms. O'Brien resides in Hudson, Ohio with her husband Patrick, her son Patrick Jr. ("P.J.") and their two dogs, Lulu and Lola.
