Kathy Charlton focuses her practice in employment, fair housing, and family law. She represents individual employees in employment matters, including negotiating employment, non-compete, and severance agreements. Her family law practice includes collaborative family law, divorce, paternity and post-judgment and child support disputes. Charlton is trained as a mediator and serves as a private mediator in employment and family law disputes. She also speaks and teaches frequently in the areas of her practice. She serves as the General Counsel for the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council, Inc.
Charlton holds degrees from Bryn Mawr College and the Vermont Law School. She actively participates in local and state bar activities, including serving in leadership capacities for the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, the Labor and Employment Section of the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Individual Rights and Responsibilities Sections and Legal Assistance Committee of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Charlton has been listed in "Best Lawyers in America" for employment law since 2001 and as a Wisconsin "Super Lawyer" since 2007. During nearly three decades of practice, she has provided pro bono services to individuals in direct representation and by staffing pro bono clinics, for which she has received numerous awards from local and statewide organizations.
