Mr. Edgar (Ed) Nield received his Bachelors (BA) Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1976. After working for several years in management for an international food service company, he attended the law and graduate business schools at the University of Denver where he received his Juris Doctor (JD) in 1983 and Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 1984.
Mr. Nield has been serving clients in southern California for over 25 years. He is licensed to practice law in California and Colorado and is admitted to practice before all of the United States District Courts in California and the Ninth Circuit District Court of Appeal in California. Mr. Nield is also admitted to practice in the Tenth Circuit District Court of Appeal in Colorado. Mr. Nield is a longstanding member of the California Bar Association as well as the Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego and North San Diego County Bar Associations. Mr. Nield also serves as an arbitrator/mediator to both the San Diego and Riverside County Superior Courts.
Mr. Nield’s extensive legal career commenced with the law firm of Tuverson and Hillyard in 1987. There, his practice was primarily focused in the areas of personal injury and professional liability defense as well as insurance coverage. Thereafter, he became a longtime partner in the firm of DiCaro, Nield and Coppo, again focusing his practice in the areas of medical and dental malpractice defense, personal Injury, correctional law and construction law. Mr. Nield returned as a partner to Kramer, DeBoer, Endelicato & Keane (formerly Tuverson & Hillyard) where he continued his practice in those same areas. With his wide ranging trial experience and knowledge, Mr. Nield founded the Nield Law Group, APC, in May of 2008. He continues to practice in the areas of medical and dental malpractice and personal injury, construction and correctional law, including representing the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and its staff in various legal matters. Having tried numerous cases to successful jury verdicts, he is an experienced trial attorney which has earned him the honor of admission into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Having practiced in the defense arena, Mr. Nield brings a well rounded approach to his practice by being able to anticipate all sides of a particular matter, whether plaintiff or defense. His ability to “see the whole playing field” is certainly a plus for clients of the Nield Law Group.
Ed enjoys the frustrating game of golf, running, watching the Padres, Chargers and Notre Dame football and spending time with his family. He is a member of the Notre Dame Club of San Diego.
