Ms. Mariana Negron-Vargas joined the Firm’s Litigation and Trial Practice Department in 2008 as a Limited Member, after serving for over three years at the Department of Justice of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, first as Deputy Solicitor General, and then, as Acting Solicitor General. An extremely versatile litigator, Ms. Negron-Vargas has experience litigating at both the trial and appellate court levels, before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as before the Courts of First Instance, the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. In addition to her three years at the Solicitor General’s Office, which handles all of the appeals of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in both the Commonwealth and federal courts, and several years in private commercial litigation practice, Ms. Negron-Vargas clerked for U.S. District Judge Salvador E. Casellas (1997-1999) and Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Gerardo A. Carlo (2003-2005), in the District of Puerto Rico.
