The courtroom is Jim Nawrocki’s natural habitat.  He has consistently litigated highly disputed and complex Workers’ Compensation cases and both at the trial and appellate levels.  Persistence, coupled with attention to detail and the desire for total client satisfaction are what motivate him.

Jim is a native Chicagoan and son of a union teamster.  He graduated DePaul University in 1981 and John Marshall Law School in 1985.  Jim served in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps 1984 – 1990 and distinguished himself as the Navy’s top criminal defense counsel 1989 – 1990.  (One client even named his firstborn son “James” after his acquittal).

Recently, Jim won a case, both at trial, and on appeal, where four company witnesses testified that his client was not injured at their job site.  The arbitrator and the Commission found his client to be more believable than the company’s witnesses and ruled in his favor.

Jim joined Goldberg Weisman Cairo in 1995 and is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation division. He handles cases in Chicago, DuPage County, Macon County, Sangamon County and Morgan County.  Jim takes great pride in training young lawyers at GWC and has been instrumental in successfully resolving some of the most difficult and complex Workers’ Compensation cases in the firm. He regularly represents clients and their families in some of the most serious claims including death, paralysis, spinal injuries, and complicated medical causation issues.
