Nick joined the firm in September 2010 as a Trainee Solicitor and qualified as an Assistant Solicitor in early 2013. Prior to joining the firm he worked at the Immigration Advisory Service and was a volunteer at Bail for Immigration Detainees, a charity.
Since joining the firm Nick has developed a wide ranging immigration and public law practice and he is particularly well regarded for his advocacy skills including the thoroughness of his appeal preparation, achieving exceptional results for his clients. Nick represents a variety of clients including those seeking to extend or remain in the UK under the Points Based System and the immigration Rules or under European law.
Nick has developed a particular interest in representing those subject to deportation proceedings and has successfully appeared on behalf of clients in appeals before the First Tier and Upper Tier tribunals. Conscious of the demise of legal aid funding for those subject to deportation proceedings from April 2013 and the potential costs for clients, Nick offers representation and advocacy services from his first meeting with a client right through to any potential appeal hearing without the need to separately employ a barrister which can help keep costs down.
Having volunteered at Bail for Immigration Detainees Nick is also passionate about the issue of detention under immigration powers by the Home Office and has successfully represented clients in claims for unlawful detention.
Nick is currently studying part time at the University of Birkbeck for a Master's degree in Law (LLM (Human Rights)). He also provides training to others in his specialist areas including advocacy skills.
