Katrina Murrel was ten years old when she knew she wanted to become an attorney after she argued eloquently and successfully with her grandmother as she was eating freshly baked cookies. The nature of the argument has been lost to memory, but the suggestion from a loving matriarch to follow the path to law school left quite an impression. Katrina worked hard from that point on to reach her goal.
After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Criminal Justice at Eastern Michigan University, Katrina attended Wayne State University Law School. Her determination proved a valuable asset as she worked as a Student Attorney and Litigation Supervisor at the Free Legal Aid Clinic in Detroit. She was highly respected by her faculty who recognized her with a Moot Court Excellence in Brief Writing award and also by her peers who elected her to the student Board of the Student Trial Advocacy Program. She also completed a prestigious internship with the former U.S. District Court Judge Julien Abel Cook, Jr.
Katrina received her Juris Doctor in 1995 and immediately began work for a firm that specialized in the field of personal injury. It instilled within her a passion for helping people get back on their feet and receive the compensation they deserved. Over the course of her career, she has handled an impressive amount of auto accident claim cases and has garnered an incredible amount of acclaim in response to her prowess. In more recent years, she has become a strong advocate for those who have fallen victim to bed bug infestations and has been featured in several media outlets as a result. Katrina has dealt with a myriad of cases involving employment/education discrimination, health insurance disputes and medical malpractice.
Katrina has known and worked with Dan Romano since 1996 and has a novel amount of experience in police misconduct, bed bugs, civil rights, Michigan no-fault insurance, automobile negligence, and premises liability claims. She is a passionate, dedicated attorney. 100% of her practice is devoted to litigation because she does not settle when a fight is in order. She is fueled by the social injustice that has tampered with her clients’ lives and is a firm believer that everyone deserves a chance to be heard.
Katrina is admitted to the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
She resides in metro Detroit with her husband and three children. She is an active participant within her community and church and is well known for being an incredible fundraiser.
