Marilyn Murphy has twenty years experience practicing exclusively in the area of divorce and family law in Maricopa County. Her emphasis is on complex division of marital property, including stock options, pension plans and business interests. She also represents clients in custody matters and prepares prenuptial agreements. She has represented clients in international custody disputes, including filings with The Hague International Court of Law in Europe.
In addition to serving as judge pro tem in the Family Division of Maricopa County Superior Court, Marilyn was selected state president of the Arizona Association of Family and Conciliation courts, serving for five years on its board, and has taught numerous continuing legal education seminars for attorneys practicing law in Arizona. She is a member of the Family Law Section of both the State of Arizona Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and was the only attorney in private practice appointed to the Governor’s Commission on Family Domestic Violence.
Marilyn received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and her juris doctorate from the University of Missouri, where she was selected for moot court board. She has done post-graduate studies at Oxford University, St. Edmund Hall, in England and completed her mediation training through the American Bar Association at Harvard University.
Marilyn has been a board member of the Arizona Epilepsy Foundation and an active fund raiser for the organization, sponsoring a team in the annual walkathon
