Josh joined BSD&D in 2002, having practiced in Chicago since 1993. He became a member of the firm in 2006. Josh's practice covers a broad range of commercial and business litigation. He has handled cases in federal, state, appellate and bankruptcy courts, as well as disputes before arbitration panels and administrative law judges. Josh has extensive experience in actions involving contract disputes, patent infringement, trademark infringement, unfair competition, fraud, antitrust, real estate, reinsurance and breach of fiduciary duty. After graduating from law school, Josh served as law clerk to United States Magistrate Judge Elaine Bucklo, Northern District of Illinois, and then as law clerk to United States District Court Judge Charles R. Norgle, Sr., Northern District Illinois.
Recent Representative Cases
Successful defense of manufacturer against claims of patent infringement and breach of patent license, obtaining summary judgment on breach of patent license claim and summary judgment of non-infringement.
Successful defense of patent infringement action, obtaining summary judgment of patent invalidity.
Successful defense of claim for $75 million in extra costs by design-build contractor of a $300 million water treatment facility, obtaining summary judgment.
Tried and won a six day bench trial on behalf of five manufactured home communities against the nation's largest manufactured home lender.
Successfully defeated automotive parts purchaser's request for injunctive relief preventing client from increasing its prices due to increased raw materials costs.
