Chris Morgan's practice focuses on environmental law, with emphasis in the areas of environmental counseling on compliance and transactional issues. In compliance matters, she has represented clients on issues arising under the Clean Water Act, RCRA, EPCRA, and the Clean Air Act and has advised clients regarding remediation obligations under Georgia's HSRA program and the federal Superfund program. In transactional matters, she has extensive experience in analyzing risks associated with environmental liabilities in various types of corporate and real estate transactions, including merger and acquisition, lending, and restructuring transactions, and in developing innovative options for management of identified environmental risks. She has represented clients in proceedings before the United States Environmental Protection Agency, numerous state agencies, and state and federal courts.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Chris practiced in the environmental department of Hunton & Williams. She is active in several professional and civic associations, including the Georgia Bar Association (Environmental Law Section), the American Bar Association, the Air & Waste Management Association, and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. Chris speaks regularly on environmental law issues and, most recently, taught a course at the 2004 AIHCE conference and spoke at the 2004 Georgia Environmental Law Seminar.
