Morgan, Earl H

James D. Montgomery, Jr., received his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Stanford University in 1979. He is a 1982 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law. Mr. Montgomery began his professional career with Coopers & Lybrand specializing in federal and state tax consulting. Later he practiced with the firm of James D. Montgomery & Associates, Ltd., for five years concentrating in civil and criminal litigation. He continued his professional career with McDonald’s Corporation in the legal department as Senior and Managing Counsel until moving into the management ranks for the company. Mr. Montgomery joined the law firm of Cochran, Cherry, Givens, Smith & Montgomery in June of 2004.

Mr. Montgomery is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Mr. Montgomery has been recognized as one of Illinois’ Super Lawyers from 2008–2012. He was recognized on the National Law Journal Plaintiff’s Hot List for a $9.6 million settlement in Grant v. 69 W. Washington Mgmt. Co. Mr. Montgomery has tried to verdict or settlement numerous multimillion dollar cases, including a $7.5 million verdict in Marshall v. Schwab and a $6.75 million settlement in Davis v. Viacom.
