Sanjay Mody is a counsel in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the Business Trial Group. He joined the firm in 2011.
Practice
Mr. Mody has a diverse practice. Significant matters include advising a large US bank on issues before federal regulatory agencies; representing a multinational financial institution in a series of lawsuits arising out of the 2008 economic crisis; and representing a biomedical company in a dispute over intellectual property. Mr. Mody also has an active pro bono practice that includes representing a federal employee in a religious discrimination lawsuit, and a non-profit organization challenging new rules governing access to New York City homeless shelters.
Past Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mody served as senior advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. In that role, he represented the chairman in the formulation of the agency’s annual budget and long-term capital plan; advised the chairman on the agency’s major transportation and infrastructure projects; evaluated alternative financing strategies for new capital projects, including public-private initiatives; and played a central role in drafting major revisions to the agency’s by-laws.
Before working for the Port Authority, Mr. Mody worked at another major international law firm, where he represented sovereign and multinational clients in various litigation and corporate matters.
