James M. Mock is a shareholder of Donelson Ciancio & Grant, P.C., and head of the Local Government and Special Districts Group. Mr. Mock focuses his practice on special districts, municipal law, construction, real estate, land use, renewable energy, general business and contract matters.
With extensive experience in infrastructure finance, development and operations, Jim enjoys guiding public officials, developers, lenders, investors and community groups through the world of public-private transactions and disputes. Jim brings a strategic and creative approach to problem-solving and always strives to provide simple and cost-sensitive solutions for every client matter.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mock worked with Collins Cockrel & Cole for six years, serving as general counsel to metropolitan districts and other local government entities. Mr. Mock also spent four years with a 17th Street public finance law firm, working on many nine-figure financing transactions for public amenities, urban redevelopment, affordable housing, and non-profit matters. Additionally, he has worked as a project manager for a non-profit land trust.
Jim received his B.A. in anthropology with high honors from the University of Michigan. After working as a ranger in Denali National Park and as a ranch hand for a family foundation in New Mexico, Jim earned his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1997, where he was a senior editor on the school's law review and he was awarded the Wall Street Journal Award for Excellence in Business Law.
Jim loves the outdoors and outdoor activities, including skiing, bicycling, fishing, and camping.
