James Millar is a partner in the firm's Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group. He joined the firm in 2005.
Practice
Mr. Millar practices primarily in the areas of corporate restructuring and bankruptcy, including representation of debtors, creditors committees, and bondholders in Chapter 11 cases and representation of industry players in cross-border insolvency matters, out-of-court restructurings, bankruptcy-related litigation and insolvency-sensitive transactions. He also has particular experience in representing purchasers in acquiring companies through Chapter 11.

- The creditors' committee of Frontier Airlines
- The bondholders of AtheroGenics that commenced an involuntary bankruptcy against the company
- The Canadian affiliates of Calpine Corporation in the Chapter 11 cases of their US affiliates and in related claims objections and avoidance actions involving hundreds of millions of dollars in claims
- The board of Radnor Holdings Corporation as special counsel in the company's Chapter 11 case
- Lead secured bondholder in the Chapter 11 case of Central Wayne Energy Recovery Limited Partnership
- Deutsche Lufthansa AG and various subsidiaries thereof (including LSG Sky Chefs and Lufthansa Technik) in various Chapter 11 cases, including ATA Airlines, MAXjet, and Gemini Air Cargo
- The LSTA, SIFMA and ISDA as amici in the Enron Transferee Litigation
- Various banks in the defense of large fraudulent conveyance and other claims brought in the Global Crossing bankruptcy proceedings
- David Stockman, former CEO, in connection with Collins & Aikman's Chapter 11 case
