Janine Metcalf practices in the area of complex civil litigation in a variety of federal and state courts. She focuses on business disputes, with emphasis on matters involving fraud, fraudulent conveyance, and banking and finance litigation. She also has significant experience in product liability litigation.
Currently, Janine is lead counsel for KeyBank National Association in complex federal court foreclosure litigation regarding one of the largest mixed-use lifestyle centers in Louisiana. She has also represented Southern Company in a multibillion dollar fraudulent conveyance action brought by the creditors of its former subsidiary, Mirant Corporation. In addition, Janine is counsel for Sherwin-Williams in product liability litigation relating to claims of lead exposure from playground equipment paint.
Janine has substantial experience handling litigation involving non-U.S. litigants, including a recent three-year litigation on behalf of a bankrupt steel company against Japanese suppliers of more than $200 million worth of steelmaking equipment. Recently, she served as lead counsel for a Spanish corporation in a federal court action alleging claims under Georgia’s RICO and Deceptive Trade Practices statutes involving the marketing rights in the U.S., Canada, and Europe for ten hotels in Cancun, Mexico.
Janine is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Litigation Section of the Atlanta Bar. She currently serves as vice-chair of the board of directors of The Bridge, a residential treatment facility for troubled and abused adolescents. In addition, Janine is a member of the Transportation Policy Committee of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
