Allison Michael represents United States and international corporations in complex employment litigation and transactional matters. She has litigated hundreds of single and multiplaintiff lawsuits and class actions in both state and federal courts, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, whistleblower, noncompete, unfair competition, privacy, LMRA, and wrongful termination disputes. Allison also regularly provides strategic guidance on executive transitions, mergers and acquisitions, downsizing and facility closures, and bankruptcies, including cross-border transactions and multijurisdictional compliance. She also provides hands-on assistance in preventive management of employee discipline and performance issues, disability and accommodation requests, WARN and California WARN planning, FMLA and CFRA use, violence in the workplace prevention, and EEOC and FEHA charge responses.
Recently, Allison served as lead counsel in transforming a lawsuit brought against her client into a multimillion dollar award in her client's favor. Other recent victories include the successful denial of class certification in a race discrimination case in the restaurant industry and reversal of a multimillion dollar verdict against a client in a sexual harassment suit litigated by another firm.
Consistently recognized as a leading labor and employment attorney, Allison was named one of the Top 50 Women Litigators in California by the Daily Journal and has been selected repeatedly as a "Super Lawyer." Allison speaks frequently on a wide variety of labor and employment subjects, including privacy in the workplace, partnering with in-house counsel to meet business goals, and diversity challenges. Allison is an active volunteer in Jones Day's pro bono projects, including the Sojourn Battered Women's Shelter.
