Since joining Raynes McCarty in 1981, Eugene D. McGurk, Jr. has represented clients from the trial courts to the highest courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is admitted to the United States Supreme Court. Thanks to a fine attention to detail and an aggressive pursuit of justice, he has achieved substantial results for clients by way of settlements and verdicts.
An accomplished lecturer, Mr. McGurk has served as an instructor in the International Law Studies Program at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. He has spoken at the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University Law School, Thomas Jefferson University Medical School, the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and his alma mater—Widener University School of Law, where he is chair of the board of overseers and an adjunct professor of law. He serves as the secretary of the board of trustees of the University and was previously the president of the law school’s Alumni Association. Mr. McGurk has also designed and delivered symposiums in conjunction with continuing legal education programs in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The valedictorian of his law school class, Mr. McGurk has earned honors and awards throughout his career. While still a student, he served as articles editor of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor fraternity. Upon graduation he received two prestigious awards: the George Reed Award and the Federal Bar Association’s award for excellence. He was recently inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa honor fraternity for educational leadership.
Prior to joining Raynes McCarty, Mr. McGurk distinguished himself as an assistant city solicitor in the City of Philadelphia’s Major Trial Unit. He is active in the Philadelphia and New Jersey offices of the Firm, is currently a member of the Philadelphia State Civil Procedures Committee, and has served on a number of Bar committees over the years.
