Clay McDonough was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 20, 1979, but grew up on the Mississippi Gulf coast, graduating from Long Beach High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Mississippi in 2002 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law in 2010. While in law school, Mr. McDonough interned for The Mississippi Office of Capital Post-Conviction Counsel, earned a Pro Bono Certificate for volunteer work at Mission First Legal Aid Office, and received the American Jurisprudence Award in International Trade Regulation. Mr. McDonough is admitted to practice before all Mississippi state courts, federal district courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Mr. McDonough is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, American Bar Association, Capital Area Bar Association, Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, and the Jackson Young Lawyers Association.
Clay and his wife, Suzanne, live in Clinton and are members of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. Clay enjoys running, cycling, and cooking. Clay is an adjunct professor at Mississippi College, teaching Legal Research & Bibliography and Critical Thinking and the Law.
