Leah Hurtgen Ziemba is an attorney in the Madison office of Michael Best and a member of the Energy and Sustainability Industry Group and Agribusiness, Food Processing and Distribution Group.

Ms. Ziemba focuses her practice on the siting and permitting of new development projects, including agricultural and energy projects, and counseling clients on environmental matters. She also has experience in environmental impact review, land use approval matters, air, water and solid waste permitting, and addressing environmental concerns related to energy, wind and biogas developments in multiple states. Ms. Ziemba has provided transactional support on environmental aspects of multiple corporate and real estate transactions.

Ms. Ziemba regularly handles environmental matters arising under federal and state law such as the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and related state laws. Additionally, Ms. Ziemba has assisted clients regarding greenhouse gas emission regulation, carbon credits, and renewable portfolio standards.
