John E. McCullough, Esq. focuses his practice on trusts, estates, business planning, and the related areas of business succession (Exit) planning, asset protection planning, charitable planning and retirement planning. Mr. McCullough has taken a special interest in the legal issues involved in sophisticated estate and multigenerational wealth planning. He frequently teaches classes and conducts workshops about estate planning and related topics for clients, attorneys and other professionals. Mr. Mccullough is continuously educating himself and other professionals about cutting-edge planning techniques designed for incorporation into the customized plans he tailors for his clients.
Mr. McCullough is a contributing author to the book Generations and is a nationally known speaker on estate planning. He is also a member of the Virginia Bar Association; the Virginia Bar Association Wills, Trusts & Estates Section; the Maryland State Bar Association; the American Bar Association; the American Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section; and has also been admitted to practice law in the State of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
Mr. McCullough received his BA in Political Science in 1981 from George Washington University. He founded Retech, Inc., a medical device recycling firm in 1984 and later sold the company in 1989. Mr. McCullough later attended Howard University School of Law where he served as an editor of the Howard Law Journal and graduated first in his class of 1994, Magna Cum Laude. Following law school, Mr. McCullough opened his solo practice in Alexandria, Virginia which evolved into the present law firm. In January, 2004, the firm relocated to the District of Columbia where Mr. McCullough resides. Firm practice areas include trusts/estates, asset protection, corporate law, mergers & acquisitions and exit planning.
