McConville, Michael F.

Michael S. McCarter received his Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001, and his Juris Doctorate from Villanova University School of Law in 2004. 

During law school, Mr. McCarter served as an extern to the Honorable Peter B. Scuderi of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.    Mr. McCarter also worked as a legal intern for the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, where he represented the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at preliminary hearings.
 
Following law school, Mr. McCarter joined a Philadelphia litigation firm where he represented and counseled clients in all aspects of tort and contract litigation.  Mr. McCarter gained particular experience litigating complex claims involving construction casualty and accidents, professional negligence, and products liability.  He also represented insurance companies and insureds in matters involving complicated insurance coverage disputes, including inter-company arbitration, bad faith and subrogation claims.  Mr. McCarter served as co-counsel at numerous jury trials in state and federal courts and has successfully represented clients at mediations and other alternative dispute resolution forums.
 
Mr. McCarter joined Powell Trachtman in 2011, where his practice focuses primarily upon representation of design professionals and construction litigation.  Mr. McCarter is licensed to practice in the state courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey.

In 2012, Mr. McCarter was selected as a “Rising Star” by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine.
