K.C. Maxwell focuses on white-collar criminal defense and related or parallel civil proceedings in state and federal court. She has represented corporations and individuals in connection with allegations of mail and wire fraud, securities fraud, tax fraud, civil and criminal RICO, fraud involving government contracts, False Claims Act violations, Federal Power Act violations, Commodities and Exchange Act violations, and criminal and civil antitrust law violations. She was on the Jones Day defense team representing former FBI agent James J. Smith, accused of negligence related to his handling of an alleged triple agent for the People's Republic of China. Prior to joining Jones Day, K.C. served as one of the lawyers representing Dr. Wen Ho Lee, the Los Alamos National Laboratories scientist accused of mishandling classified nuclear weapons information.

K.C. is a member of the ABA (Criminal Justice and Litigation Sections) and The Bar Association of San Francisco.
