John H. May entered the private practice of law in 2004 after three-years in the Office of the District Attorney of Lancaster County. He is the third generation of the May family to practice in the firm since 1929.
Mr. May brings extensive trial experience to the firm after prosecuting more than 20 jury trials while employed by Office of the District Attorney. While working as a prosecutor, Mr. May quickly rose through the ranks in the office, and at the time of his departure oversaw the Child Abuse Unit, where he successfully prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor sexual offenses against children. Prior to joining the DA’s Office, Mr. May was the law clerk to the Honorable Joseph C. Madenspacher, judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County. May worked with Judge Madenspacher in the judge’s first year on the bench after 8 years as the District Attorney of Lancaster County. During this year, Judge Madenspacher heard family law cases almost exclusively, which allowed Attorney May to gain a keen understanding behind the scenes in Family Court.
Mr. May moved to Lancaster in 2000 after meeting his wife in New York City. While in New York, he was employed as an Assistant Agent for the SFX Sports Group, Inc., a sports and entertainment agency.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. May enjoys fly fishing and being outside. He is married with two small children. He works extensively as a volunteer attorney through the Lancaster County Bar Association’s Volunteer Attorney Program, and is a founding member and Board President of the Lancaster County Children’s OASIS -- a forensic examination center for child victims of sexual abuse.
