Berni Mast is an experienced real estate and secured lending lawyer. She has structured, negotiated, and documented a wide variety of syndicated and single-lender financing transactions, including acquisition, development, construction, conduit, mezzanine, bridge, permanent, and revolving credit loans for banks, life insurance companies, and other institutional lenders, and also has represented borrowers on all aspects of loan transactions. Berni's practice also encompasses loan participations and assignments, and sales of loans and loan portfolios, as well as the restructuring and workout of troubled credits.

Berni advises sellers and purchasers in acquisitions and dispositions of retail, commercial, industrial, and multifamily residential properties in single-purpose transactions and as part of corporate mergers and acquisitions. She also represents landlords and tenants in the leasing of retail, commercial, industrial, and residential properties.

Clients for which Berni has worked on recent substantial matters include Cameron Family Glass Packaging, Developers Diversified Realty, DMAX, John Carroll University, JRK Birchmont Advisors, KeyCorp, National City Bank/PNC Bank, Standard Bank PLC, and a WL Ross & Co. portfolio company.

Berni is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. She is named in the 2010 edition of Best Lawyers in America® (real estate law). She serves on the board of trustees of the Cleveland Zoological Society in support of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
