Jacob D. Massee is an associate in the litigation department of the firm. Mr. Massee concentrates his practice in the areas of Municipal Liability, Local Government Law, Financial Institutions Law and Business Litigation.
Mr. Massee is a native of Fitzgerald, Georgia. He attended the University Of Georgia, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. While at the University of Georgia, Mr. Massee was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and a Justice with the University’s Student Judiciary and the Inter-Fraternity Council’s Judiciary Board.
Upon earning his undergraduate degree, Mr. Massee attended the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University where he received a Juris Doctor in 2007 and was inducted into the Order of Barristers. While at Mercer, he was a member of the Moot Court Board and a Finalist at the Ruby R. Vale Corporate Law Moot Court Competition. Mr. Massee served as Chair of the Moot Court Board during his third year of law school.
Mr. Massee is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Executive Council of the State Bar of Georgia - Young Lawyer Division, and the Savannah Bar Association - Young Lawyers Division, where he is currently the President of the Executive Committee. He is also the Firm’s Young Lawyers Liaison with the Meritas law firms worldwide. Outside of his law practice, Mr. Massee is an active member of the Civitan Club of Savannah and Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.
In 2011, Mr. Massee was named by Atlanta Magazine as a Georgia Rising Star. This program seeks to identify the top 2.5% of up-and-coming lawyers in Georgia who are under the age of 40 and who have been in practice less than 10 years.
Mr. Massee is admitted to practice before all Georgia State Courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, and the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit.
