Ya-Ling Wu has a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology, and her doctoral research focused on breast cancer therapeutics from a structure-function analysis. She solved the protein structure of the estrogen receptor in complex with an anti-breast cancer drug by X-ray crystallography. For her studies Ya-Ling was the recipient of a departmental award for outstanding performance as well as a predoctoral traineeship award from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command. In addition to her doctoral studies, Ya-Ling has research experience in the areas of immunology and nutritional sciences.
