Jonathan W. Wu aims to provide high quality legal representation in health law matters and focuses on the administrative and regulatory aspects of litigation. He deals with issues ranging from Medicare and Medicaid certification to representing health practitioners in licensing issues before the Texas Medical Board. In addition, he has intimate experience dealing with various state and federal administrative agencies and their appeal processes. His knowledge in this area is essential to navigating the bureaucracy involved in any administrative legal proceeding.
Before joining Rivas Goldstein, LLP., Jonathan worked as a staff attorney at Lone Star Legal Aid in Houston, TX where he worked in the Public Benefits Unit providing legal services to at-risk and low-income families. He specialized in providing legal representation to beneficiaries of various state and federal entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Insurance, Unemployment Insurance and numerous other public benefits. He successfully represented dozens of clients in administrative hearings and appeals involving agencies like Texas Health and Humans Services Commission (HHSC), Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership (TMHP), Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS), Social Security Administration (SSA) and others.
Prior to working at legal aid, Jonathan gained vital experience working for various attorneys as a research attorney in health law matters and also worked as a law clerk in the legal division of the Department of Veteran Affairs where he worked primarily in medical malpractice defense.
Jonathan's background has fostered a robust flexibility in all aspects of administrative health law--from pouring through hundreds of medical records, to meticulous research of regulations and policies, to effectively dealing directly with opposing attorneys, hearing officers and judges to achieve a positive outcome on behalf of his clients.
