Vilma Martinez was born in Tampa, Florida on September 22, 1969.
In 2004, she joined Morgan and Morgan as a paralegal in the firm's nursing home, personal injury and mass tort litigation departments. After law school, Ms. Martinez worked as an associate at the insurance defense firm of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., where she practiced in the areas of general liability, nursing home defense, and products liability. She also also served as a member of that firm’s appellate practice group, where she drafted appellate briefs and motions for administrative and trial court appeals.
Ms. Martinez has been honored with a number of prestigious litigation fellowships and internships. She served as a fellow for the Center for Excellence in Advocacy at Stetson University College of Law. She was also awarded a litigation internship with the FBI Tampa Division, received a Diversity legal internship with Carlton Fields’ Tampa Office, and was selected for a judicial internship with the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich, United States District Court, Middle District of Florida.
Ms. Martinez’s diverse background includes honorable service in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Analyst. While serving in the Army, Ms. Martinez received intensive language training in Mandarin Chinese at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where she received her linguistic certification and graduated with high honors. Ms. Martinez received her Honorable Discharge in December 1997.
In January 2011, Ms. Martinez proudly rejoined Morgan & Morgan as an attorney in the firm’s Tampa office.
