Attorney Mastandrea has practiced criminal defense law first hand from many different standpoints. As a former staff attorney for the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office, Rod was responsible for handling a wide array of criminal matters ranging from lower level traffic violations to first degree felonies. Mr. Mastandrea was one of the staff members responsible for the Pilot Program where he handled a hefty caseload of felony matters in the earliest stages of the defense process. Rod Mastandrea worked with his clients and the courts to expedite justice and resolve cases in favor of his clients in an efficient and positive manner. During his time with the Public Defender’s Office, Mr. Mastandrea also took many cases through the entire judicial process, from early disposition hearings to the pretrial process, to co-counseling felony trials.

Large Firm Experience.

Attorney Mastandrea has also practiced criminal defense in a large firm setting. As a Cleveland associate attorney, Mr. Mastandrea headed the Cleveland Criminal Defense Practice for a local Ohio firm. As head of this practice group, Attorney Mastandrea again managed a large caseload with a vast array of cases including traffic offenses, OVI defense, Misdemeanor and Felony offenses. His practice led him to become extremely familiar with the inner workings of local courts including all 14 municipal courts in Cuyahoga County and the various municipal courts in Lake, Lorain, Summit, Geauga, Stark, and Trumbull counties. He also worked extensively in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.

Although grateful for this challenging and rewarding experience, Mr. Mastandrea believes that the best representation comes from a small boutique firm and a personal approach. In private practice Mr. Mastandrea has found that he can devote his skilled expertise and legal acumen to his clients and represent each individual client, not as a number in a caseload, but as a person he knows by name.
