Born in Nebraska, William “Alex” Marsh attended high school at The Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus in population genetics in 2005 from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, while also studying Ornithology through the University of Nebraska, Lincoln during the summers. Alex’s college path was non-traditional, often taking semesters off to pursue a career in the entertainment industry as a dance music D.J., allowing him adventures across the country as well as in Europe and Mexico.
After college, Alex moved back to Colorado, promptly taking a job at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area where, over the course of many seasons, he worked as a lifty, a ski tuner and the assistant manager of the ski shop.
In 2008, having decided he had had enough fun for a while, Alex packed up and moved to Boston where he enrolled at New England School of Law. During law school, Alex was an associate editor and wrote for the New England Journal of International and Comparative Law; interned at the Community Legal Services and Counseling Center in Cambridge, MA, helping indigent clients in need of legal services to collect their Social Security, Medicaid and Disability benefits; served as secretary of the Environmental Law Society and participated in the International Law Society. Alex spent the summer of 2009 studying international law at Charles University in Prague and the National University of Ireland in Galway. He also worked as the handyman for a downtown law firm in Boston’s Old City Hall.
Initially intending to focus his studies on bio-med and healthcare law, it wasn’t until after serving a summer internship with Bauer and Burns in Breckenridge, CO that he realized his heart remained in the Rocky Mountains and his true dream was to advocate for the friends and community dearest to him. Upon earning his J.D. in May of 2011, Alex moved back to Frisco and passed the Colorado bar exam.
Alex is a member of the Continental Divide Bar Association and the Litigation, Health Law and Trusts and Estates Divisions of the Colorado Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado. He is a member of the National Audubon Society and volunteers with the Snow Sports Outreach Society. Alex feels his strongest contributions to the local legal community will be his foundations in estate planning, healthcare law, civil litigation and family law. He is most passionate about advocating for the local youthful population and those whose rights have been ignored or discarded.
Alex lives in Frisco, CO with his law school sweetheart Jenny, whom he met in a course being taught by none other than the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, John Roberts. They plan to wed at Arapahoe Basin in the spring of 2013. Chief Justice Roberts is not expected to preside over the ceremony. Alex and Jenny enjoy, skiing, hiking and backpacking with their neurotic Greyhound “Nova” as well as hotly debating the minutia of academic legal theory during their adventures.
