Henry Wixon is a partner in the Intellectual Property Department at WilmerHale. He joined the firm in 1990.
Practice
Much of Mr. Wixon's practice involves counseling start-up and small-to-medium-size biotechnology companies on intellectual property and technology transfer issues that are crucial to their corporate strategy. A registered patent attorney, Mr. Wixon works with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to procure and enforce patent protection for key corporate technology assets.
Professional Activities
Mr. Wixon co-Chairs the Maryland Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (LES), and is a member of the faculty of the society’s Professional Development Series, which offers intensive instruction in intellectual asset management skills for licensing professionals. He is a past chair of the Communications and Intellectual Property Law Section of the Federal Bar Association, and of the FBA Patent, Trademark & Copyright Committee. He is a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). Mr. Wixon is a charter member of the Biotechnology Practice Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and of the International Federation for the Advancement of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. He is a member of the Board of the Virginia Biotechnology Association and a member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) BioMedTech Committee.
In addition, Mr. Wixon is a member of the Committee on Representing Emerging Companies of the Business Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Patent, Trademark and Copyright Section of the District of Columbia Bar and the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.
Honors and Awards
Mr. Wixon was "highly recommended" in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 editions of the PLC Cross-border Life Sciences Handbook in the USA Patent Counseling category.
