James Louis Wilson is admitted to practice in Washington and California. He has served clients since 1993 in complex civil, business and consumer litigation and catastrophic injury matters.
Mr. Wilson is a member of several sections of the Washington State Bar Association, including Taxation and Litigation. He is also involved in the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association as a member of the Consumer Protection, Elder Abuse and Insurance Law Sections. Mr. Wilson has a diverse background, one that includes securities, estate planning and taxation. Mr. Wilson earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law and his Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law.
James Louis Wilson graduated from the University of California at Irvine in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Ecology (criminology). Thereafter, he attended Southwestern University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1993.
Following law school, Mr. Wilson completed a judicial clerkship in a high-volume civil department of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. In 1994 he entered private practice as a civil litigator. For the next seven years, Mr. Wilson defended complex civil claims throughout Southern California, in both state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels.
In mid-1999, Mr. Wilson seized an opportunity to travel extensively throughout Western Europe and South America, particularly Chile, Bolivia and Peru. Once in South America, with the benefit of an extended family in Chile, Mr. Wilson was able to embark on a number of adventures - hiking into Machu Picchu, traveling to Lake Titicaca and the Amazon basin, snowboarding at El Portillo, backpacking in Torres del Payne National Park. According to Mr. Wilson, it was the trip of a lifetime and one that set in motion a series of refinements in both his personal life and professional practice.
Returning to the United States in 2000, Mr. Wilson re-located to Seattle, Washington, where he remains licensed to practice law. In 2003, he earned an LLM from the University of Washington School of Law.
Mr. Wilson returned to Southern California in 2006 as a senior civil litigator with Enterprise Counsel Group. While at Enterprise Counsel Group, Mr. Wilson represented individual entrepreneurs and self-insured businesses in a broad spectrum of labor and employment matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, Labor Code section 132a, and workers' compensation claims. In 2007, Mr. Wilson joined the Law Offices of Robert E. Willyard, where he specialized in workers' compensation defense until joining Bradford & Barthel in December 2010.
In his free time, Mr. Wilson enjoys outdoor pursuits such as backpacking, surfing, trail running, and spending time with his two dogs.
