Evan Williams joined Gauthier, Houghtaling & Williams in the Spring of 2012. He is a graduate of Tulane Law School and a Louisiana native with a demonstrated commitment to service. Evan traces his commitment to service back to his nomination and appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Despite succeeding academically in a vigorous engineering program at Annapolis, he to transferred to Morehouse College to pursue his ultimate dream of becoming an attorney.
After graduation from Morehouse, Evan worked for ExxonMobil Corporation in order to gain professional experience and improve his business acumen. At ExxonMobil, he spent some of his time in the Gulf of Mexico working on well optimization issues and a number of other assignments. He credits this experience with enriching his view of our world and supply of non-renewable resources, and also contributing to his continued interest in pursuing a legal career.
While at Tulane Law, Evan was selected to become a Rule 20 Attorney in the Tulane Criminal Law Clinic. In the Clinic, Evan had the opportunity to successfully represent a number of indigent New Orleanians. Evan also served as a legal intern in the Office of the Mayor of New Orleans, where he learned a great deal about the mechanics of our State and municipal system.
After finishing law school, Evan continued to work with the City of New Orleans and served as in-house counsel for a construction/contracting advocacy group in the Greater New Orleans area. Additionally, he hosts a weekly radio show that provides a forum for discussion about the small business climate in the region.
Evan was appointed treasurer of the executive board of the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, Inc. for 2012-2013. The Martinet Society is an organization devoted to the interchange of ideas, promotion of legal scholarship, advancement of the science of jurisprudence, upholding the order and ethics of the courts and profession of law, and promoting the welfare of the legal profession in Louisiana.
