Eric P. Wilenzik graduated with Honors from Brown University in 1989, and received his Juris Doctorate with Honors from Drake University in 1994. In 1997, Mr. Wilenzik received his L.L.M. in Taxation from Villanova University.
Mr. Wilenzik represents a wide variety of private and publicly held businesses, entrepreneurs, and executives. His business clients include, for example, manufacturers, processors, distributors, consumer products sales companies, professional practices, trading and brokerage businesses, health care businesses, service businesses, and information technology businesses. His practice focuses on complex planning, transactional work (including both leveraged and non-leveraged acquisitions), mergers (taxable and tax exempt), reorganizations, equity purchases, financing and refinancing, divisions and spinoffs, real estate transactions and services, contract drafting and review, employment contracts and employment relations, succession planning and business structuring and advice. Mr. Wilenzik works closely with Powell Trachtman's litigation attorneys in commercial cases. Mr. Wilenzik often acts as general counsel to companies who do not employ in-house general counsel.
Mr. Wilenzik also provides tax-related services, including tax planning, audit representation, tax advocacy and appeals, and the formation and operation of charitable enterprises. Mr. Wilenzik practices before the Internal Revenue Service and state Departments of Revenue. He is admitted to and practices before the United States Tax Court, and also handles state tax litigation matters at the initial level and through the appellate court process. Mr. Wilenzik's tax practice also includes criminal tax investigations and defense.
Utilizing his business and tax expertise, Mr. Wilenzik also provides asset protection, estate planning, estate administration, and estate litigation and related services for business and non-business clients, with a view toward the preservation of wealth, the minimization of taxes and the implementation of family and business objectives.
Mr. Wilenzik regularly speaks to clients and related groups on a wide variety of issues that affect his diverse client base. He volunteers as an advocate in the Montgomery County Child and Family Welfare System, and is active in the Bench-Bar Committee of the Montgomery County Bar Association.
Mr. Wilenzik is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as before the Internal Revenue Service, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, and the New Jersey Department of Revenue.
