SEAN M. WHITT was raised in nearby Russell, Kentucky, and has been engaged in the private practice of law in Ashland, Kentucky, since 1999. He attended Russell High School and the University of Kentucky, receiving his B.B.A. degree in Marketing in 1994 at UK's College of Business and Economics and his J.D. degree in 1999 from UK's College of Law. While studying for his undergraduate degree, he was a member of the Sigma Chi social fraternity, Lambda Lambda Chapter. During his law school career, Mr. Whitt served as Oral Advocacy Chairperson for the UK Moot Court Team. He is currently a member of the Boyd County Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, American Bar Association, Kentucky Defense Counsel, American Association for Justice, and the Kentucky School Board Attorneys' Association. Mr. Whitt is an original Incorporator and current Director of the Russell Independent Schools Endowment Foundation and was formerly the Seventh District Representative of the Young Lawyers' Section of the Kentucky Bar Association. Mr. Whitt currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Hope's Place, a children's advocacy center, and as a member of the Board of Education for the Russell Independent School District.
Mr. Whitt has concentrated his practice in the area of litigation in both state and federal courts as well as governmental administrative agencies in Kentucky. His practice areas include insurance defense, personal injury, hospital law and medical malpractice, construction and commercial disputes, industrial accidents, products and premises liability, occupational safety and health administrative matters for Kentucky employers, real estate, and educational law.
