Sean Whyte practices general civil litigation and has assisted in the defense of clients in toxic tort, intellectual property, and securities cases in state and federal courts. Sean has a great deal of experience in analyzing complex legal issues and drafting trial documents. He has written or contributed to the writing of briefs opposing class certification, approving class action settlements, proposing protective orders, and seeking summary judgment.
Sean also has significant class action experience, having participated in the defense of several class actions in federal courts throughout the country. Those cases have involved internet sales practices, consumer fraud statutes, personal injury, and federal statutes including the Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA).
Before joining Jones Day, Sean completed all of the course requirements for a doctoral degree in philosophy and taught at several small colleges in Michigan and Ohio.
