David Lowery represents clients in large complex real estate transactions, focusing on acquisitions, dispositions, mergers and acquisitions, financings, and joint ventures. He has significant experience in distressed asset transactions, workouts, and bulk sales of nonperforming loans and real estate owned.
Representative transactions include numerous transactions for Morgan Stanley, including the $8.6 billion buyout of Canary Wharf, the $6.5 billion buyout of Crescent Real Estate Equities, the $1.5 billion buyout of Town & Country Trust, and the $525 million acquisition of 11,000 homesites from Lennar Corp.; TriGate Capital's acquisition of a minority interest in a sponsor of real estate private equity funds; and EDS' sale-leaseback of 20 properties in the U.S. and Europe.
Other clients with which David has worked on substantial matters include Rockpoint Group, Thomas Properties Group, CalEast Industrial Investors, Westbrook Real Estate Partners, and Behringer Harvard Funds.
David co-chairs Jones Day's Real Estate Practice worldwide and leads the Firm's Real Estate Capital Markets Practice. He is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He frequently speaks on topics related to real estate private equity.
