Dave, a co-founding partner of the Firm, graduated from Columbia College, Columbia University, and from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was awarded the Lewis F. Powell Medal for excellence in advocacy. Dave began his practice on Long Island eighteen years ago, before moving to Buckley, Treacy, Schaffel, Mackey & Abbate, a Wall Street construction and surety litigation firm. Dave was admitted to practice in New York in 1981, and subsequently to the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In 1987, Dave co-founded Westermann & Tryon in Garden City, where his practice continued in the area of surety and construction law, in both the public and private sectors. In 1998, Dave co-founded Westermann Hamilton & Sheehy. Dave’s practice has focused on construction and surety litigation and transactional work. Dave has handled numerous payment and performance disputes on public and private projects of every description throughout North America, including in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Missouri, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania and Ontario, and in the Caribbean. Dave has also represented major corporations in real estate, commercial, employment, labor and condemnation matters.
