I am native of Long Island, NY who came to Iowa in 1984 to attend the University of Iowa on a Field Hockey scholarship. I finished my BS in Sociology and Political Science in 1988 and then spent 2 years abroad. I returned to the University where I obtained by Juris Doctor in 1991. During law school I worked part time as a prosecuting attorney for the Johnson County Attorney’s office. Later, I clerked for Jim Hayes at Meardon, Sueppel, Downer and Hayes. After law school, I moved to Orlando to work at Foley and Lardner, a large national law firm, gaining valuable experience in their litigation department.
In 1998 I returned to Iowa City to work with Jim Hayes. In 1999, we opened Hayes Lorenzen Lawyers and have been pursuing cases on behalf of injured plaintiffs ever since. The opportunity to work side by side with Jim has been both professionally and personally fulfilling. The cases we work on and the clients we have helped continue to challenge and reward us.
