John Welch has more than 26 years of experience representing companies in a broad range of industries, primarily concentrating on complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance, and general corporate counseling.

In recent years, John has advised clients on M&A and joint venture activities in the aerospace and defense, telecommunications, and energy industries. He also has represented clients in the media (broadcast television, cable television, and radio) and real estate industries. John has substantial experience structuring investments for non-U.S. clients who are prohibited from acquiring immediate control of U.S. businesses because of regulatory constraints under the Communications Act, Exon–Florio (CFIUS), and related laws. Additionally, John has counseled both publicly traded and privately held clients in connection with internal corporate investigations.

John's diverse experience includes service as executive vice president and general counsel of a telecommunications company. As an international corporate lawyer, John has practiced law in London, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC. He lectures regularly on M&A and related corporate law topics.
