In 1998, Janet Lipinski was appointed by Robert M. Morgenthau as an Assistant District Attorney for New York County, where she amassed extensive trial and investigative experience in the areas of street crime, white collar crime and civil asset forfeiture.

At the District Attorney's Office, Janet quickly developed a reputation as a skillful investigator and accomplished trial attorney. She demonstrated special prominence in the handling of domestic and sexual abuse cases, which require a particularized ability to vigorously litigate cases where emotions run high. Unafraid to take on these sensitive matters, Janet's courtroom successes repeatedly demonstrated her talent for combining vigorous advocacy with the tactical delicacy that certain cases require.

Janet honed her skills as an investigator in the Special Prosecutions Unit of the District Attorney's Office. There she played a pivotal role in the investigation and litigation of 9/11-related financial fraud, achieving an unblemished trial record in those cases. Later, as part of the Asset Forfeiture Unit, Janet gained keen insight into "how a prosecutor thinks" and specific knowledge of how to liberate seized assets.
