Judge Lindberg’s varied and accomplished career path lends itself to the alternative dispute process. As Judge of the Fourth Judicial District (1974-2000) he expanded and implemented the alternative dispute resolution process.
As current chair of the USA Hockey, Inc.’s Legal Council he is involved in oversight of contract relations as well as reviewing the organization’s litigation. USA Hockey Inc. is the National Governing Body for amateur ice hockey in the United States. Also, under Judge Lindberg’s leadership, the USA Hockey Legal Council adopted an arbitration process for resolution of disputes between hockey individuals and their organizations. As Legal Council Chair his involvement is a direct oversight of that arbitration process.
Judge Lindberg is also the Chair of the USA Hockey, Inc.’s Suspensions and Appeals Committee, having performed the same role in the past for the Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association and its district organizations. Judge Lindberg is currently one of 200 arbitrators worldwide for the Court of Arbitration for Sport which is the world organization designed to resolve disputes between athletes and their sports federations and also to determine Olympic or International competition eligibility. Judge Lindberg is well versed in Sports law and the application of the Ted Stevens Amateur Sports Act, 36 U.S.C.A., Chapter 220501 et. seq., and the U.S. Olympic Committee Bylaws as they may apply to individuals and team amateur sports competition.
