Melissa Lettiere is a member of Stahl Cowen's Litigation and Dispute Resolution group. Melissa has extensive experience defending title claims, representing title insurance companies and lenders against challenges to the priority and validity of mortgage liens brought by third parties under a variety of theories, including allegations that documents of conveyance were forged, intended as security for an equitable mortgage, or procured by fraud in the inducement and/or execution in sale/leaseback schemes. Melissa also defends challenges to priority of liens brought under the Illinois Mechanic's Lien Act.
In addition, Melissa counsels, and litigates on behalf of, individuals and corporations on a variety of matters involving franchisee/franchisor, property, employment, and service contract disputes, including the enforceability of non-compete, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements, providing analysis and consultation to strategically guide our clients through the separation of an employer/employee relationship governed by an employment contract or franchise agreement. Melissa's litigation experience also extends to claims involving constitutional challenges to due process and jurisdiction of the court.
