Robert C. Leibsle is the senior partner of Godfrey, Leibsle, Blackbourn & Howarth, S.C. Bob joined the firm in 1973, shortly after earning his law degree from Marquette University Law School. Bob has since spent the last three decades facilitating the growth of the firm into an integral part of the business and real estate community of southern Wisconsin, as well as developing a reputation as a respected attorney throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest.
Bob's law practice concentrates in real estate, business, and environmental law, focusing on commercial and residential real estate development and transactions. Bob has worked on numerous condominium and real estate developments, including conservation and environmentally sensitive subdivisions. Bob has also worked on a number of commercial developments for nationally known stores, dealing with annexation, zoning/environmental, and related municipal and governmental issues. Bob's experience also includes over 15 years as a municipal attorney for various villages, towns, and sanitary districts, dealing with all types of matters, including zoning and platting issues, annexation issues, tax incremental financing (TIF) issues, and other general municipal issues. Bob has acted as special counsel for the County of Walworth, Wisconsin, on zoning and real estate issues.
Bob has been selected for inclusion in the prestigious The Best Lawyers in America® each of the last 12 years, as well as being named by the Wisconsin Super Lawyers® magazine as one of the top attorneys in Wisconsin from 2006 to 2010, and as published in the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 December issues of Milwaukee Magazine®.
For over 20 years Bob has also been awarded an "AV"® rating by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review ratings service. Each of these honors were given to Bob by his peers and colleagues by an impartial rating system. Each of these awards reflects Bob's dedication to the legal profession and recognition of the highest rating for his legal ability.
Bob continues to be an active member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and American Bar Association, where his contributions are frequently recognized in legal publications and continuing legal education CLE lectures. Bob has co-authored the Consumer Guide to Wisconsin Law®, and has authored various legal articles for the Wisconsin Lawyer® magazine, the official publication of the Wisconsin Bar Association. Bob was also previously elected to a term on the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Wisconsin, as well as a term as Chairperson of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Wisconsin State Bar. Bob has been and continues to be an active member of the that Section.
