Cheryl Legare's practice focuses on representing employees in all aspects of employment law, including claims of age, race, gender, pregnancy, religion, national origin and disability discrimination and retaliation, sexual harassment, FMLA interference and retaliation, and wage and hour disputes. She also represents individuals in contract negotiations, non-compete and non-solicitation agreement negotiations and disputes, and employment separation negotiations. Prior to joining Buckley & Klein, Cheryl worked for two large national law firms counseling management on employment law issues and defending employers sued in employment-related lawsuits in federal and state courts.
Cheryl is a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of Georgia State University College of Law. She has a B.A. in sociology from Ithaca College and a M.A. in social work from the State University of New York at Albany.
In law school, Cheryl served as President of both the Moot Court Board and the Public Interest Law Association. Since law school, Cheryl has been active in the Atlanta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the GAWL mentoring initiative and is the Immediate Past President of the GAWL Foundation Board. Cheryl is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers' Association and the Labor and Employment Sections of the American and Atlanta Bar Associations.
Cheryl is admitted to practice law in Georgia and South Carolina. She is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits.
Cheryl and her husband Brad, also an attorney, live with their two dogs (Catfish and Moonpie) and two cats (Dogfish and Dixie) in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur, Georgia where Cheryl is active in her neighborhood association. In their spare time, Cheryl and Brad enjoy spending time with friends, listening to live music and going to the beach.
